about

Hyper Anesthetic is DavidR XV's debut album and first attempt at making full length tracks. Recorded during high school, DavidR set out to separate himself from his metal head counterparts. Not having any musical training, DavidR looked up to the legendary Alec Empire for inspiration. Empire was known for making intense music using the most unconventional of devices like Atari computers and Game Boys. Of course, DavidR couldn't afford anything half as fancy, so he used his glitchy computer, some wav sound editors, online audio samples and a micro-cassette recorder.

The album keeps a fast paced Drum 'n' Bass style and retains a dark atmosphere throughout its course. "Industrial Sized Whips" slows down the tempo and "Requiem de Mozart" makes an unexpected turn into a hauntingly dark world with its distorted guitar samples, eerie sound effects and doom metal stylings.

October 2013 marks the 10th anniversary of Hyper Anesthetic's release.

Trivia:

1. There are 15 letters in "Hyper Anesthetic".

2. XV Empire was formerly known as XV Records during this time.

3. Album artwork went through at least five revisions, with three different album covers. Two of which are extremely rare.

4. Originally, the album was going to have more than 6 songs, but the computer kept freezing. Thus halting all recording.

5. During one of the artwork revisions, a new song was going to be added. Since it has been a few years from release, the song disrupted the flow of the album and was aborted. This song remains unreleased.
